Walk For Freedom

Dear Church Family, We have been advertising and I (Michelle) have talked about the Walk for Freedom for a while now. I really hope and pray that you have given it good thought and possibly have looked at the online info if uncertain exactly what it I all about. PLEASE… human trafficking is a huge crisis and it reaches everybody. Please consider Walking the Walk. It will be for a few hours only on the morning of Saturday, 20th October… just a small effort that can raise much awareness and make a BIG difference.
ALSO: We are one of the organising Churches, along with other Churches and Organisations. There are of course many requirements to arrange an event like this. Please have a look at this list and see if there is any way that you can help with any of these, or if maybe you or your company / business can contribute to these requirements for the event.
- printing, flyers, banners with any of the above logos / posters / factual information - Have t-shirts made with the attached artwork (we need minimum of 100 but would like to have 200) – We were quoted about R15 000 to have the shirts made. ANY contributions of any amount will be welcome - We URGENTLY need people to sign up for marshelling, handing out water etc. If you would like to participate as a Marshall please let Zandi know ASAP and forward her a copy of your ID.

MCSA Ordination 2018

What a wonderful time I had with the Ordinands 2018 as they spend their last few days in retreat before being Ordained in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa. We stayed at a lovely lodge in Matola (a real little humble oasis in the midst of the dust, dirt and diversity that Matola is). We had special times where the Ordinands were able to reflect, cry, laugh, heal and grow. What a blessing to be part of that process for them. On Saturday we took them to Conference to be received into Full Connexion and to answer the all-important questions that one has to answer when becoming a minister in the Church, such go where the Church sends, not malign the church etc. After that we were able to spend a little time exploring the Maputo Fish Market (… I consumed huge amounts of prawns, calamari and soul in my alk on the beach… after a few hours of waiting to rehearse the service we went back to Matola, exhausted. And then on Sunday was the big day for the Ordinands as we wisked them back to Maputo University for the special Ordination service. Being charged by the Presiding Bishop they then were laid hands on and Ordained before God, Church and Family… very, very special indeed. What a wonderful time and what a special privilege to be part of as a Chaplain to the Ordinands. May they each lead our Church forward in grace, truth and love that stems from God our Eternal Father ~ Michelle (photo’s attached).

INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY

I Shall endeavor to show that Christianity is essentially a social religion; and that to turn it into a solitary religion is indeed to destroy it.John Wesley, Upon Our Lord's Sermon ob the Mount IV
What then is religion? it is happiness in God, or in the knowledge and love of God. It is Fsaith working by love; producing righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Jhon Wesley, letter to Mr C - May 2, 1786
What may we reasonably believe to be God's design in raising up the Preachers called Methodists? Not to form any new sect, But to reform the nation, particularly the Church, and to spread scriptural holiness over the land. Minuets of Serveral Conversations Between Mr. Wesley and Others.
